I am a native New Englander born in Boston Massachusetts and
moved to N.H., at a very early age.
I love to cook and paint and love animals. My pets are a miniature
Poodle named Pepper and a kitten named Jessie.
I starting with oil paints when I was 12 and started with some paint
by numbers. I loved the smell of the paint and the detail that goes
into painting. As I got older I started to draw and paint kittens. Their
fur, eyes and whiskers gave me an eye for painting and many hours
of pleasure.
I took a correspondence course in art and then started taking
painting lessons from a lakes region artist named Loran Percy.
I thought, after 6 years of classes, if I put an ad in the local
newspaper about Pet Portraits, people would bring me pictures of
their pets to paint and they did. I had a wall covered with paintings
of dogs and cats and when someone came in and asked about my
work I would tell them about each animal.
I paint under the name of annieo, because my husband would
always say to me, "OK annieo." so the name stuck. When I was little
my parents use to call me annieo after Annie Oakley, it is funny how
things turn out.
I have not entered many shows or put my work in galleries, just a
few arts shows, but I am now in the Artisans Gallery of Tilton and
love being with the other artists.
I now have paintings all over the world. And love to talk with people
about their pets.
I am just an artist that keeps on going.
